About Us

Be the Light Medical Missions is a faith-based, non-profit organization founded in 2019 by a group of friends, family, and healthcare workers who genuinely want to make a difference in people’s lives through free healthcare services. While serving together in one of the poorest regions in the Western Hemisphere, a spark was started in this group that will change the world in the name of Jesus Christ!

BLMM was born out of the idea that everyone deserves accessible medical care and other basic human necessities such as food, shelter, and love. Believing that even one person can make a ripple-effect difference, a group of Christian nurses, doctors, husbands, wives, children, and friends are striving together to make as many ripples as possible, helping to break the chains of poverty and showing the hope of Christ’s love to everyone they encounter.

With a foreign medical mission under their belts and a renewed fire in their spirits for helping the less fortunate, the volunteers of BLMM have big plans for healthcare in our local community and far beyond!  Plans are in progress for a quarterly free clinic in one of the poorest regions in the Western Hemisphere, as well as fundraising to provide a van for free transportation to doctors appointments in our local area.  There are many other services and project in the works!  Continue reading to learn more!  Donate, volunteer, pray, or learn more about us as you explore our website!

Duane McManus, President of BLMM

Duane McManus spent his first career in education, mentoring youth through athletics, academics, and work programs.  Serving as a coach, teacher, and later, as an administrator, he has touched the lives of countless young people, and has seen first hand how the love and hope of a relationship with Jesus Christ can change lives.  After retiring from education, Duane now serves as a pastor in the United Methodist Church and continues to serve as a mentor to young adults.

Allison Key, MD, FAAFP, Medical Director

Dr. Allison Key serves as the medical director for Be the Light Medical Missions, Inc.  She is a family physician who has been serving in her rural hometown for the past 10+ years.  She owns her own medical practice, 3:16 Healthcare, and often hosts free clinics for patients in the community.  Her passion in medicine is breaking the traditional limitations of healthcare and meeting patients right where they are.  Dr. Key’s love of Jesus and enthusiasm for helping people make her a natural fit for our organization.

Current Needs

Transport Van

Be the Light Medical Missions plans to purchase a transport van similar to the one pictured here. It will be used to offer free transportation to patients in our community to and from their doctors appointments. We will be able to provide the “elbow support” that our senior citizens often need getting to and from their doctors. This will help fill big void in access to healthcare in our community!
